Wicked Mile For Warrawee Needy

As much as Team Jamieson is looking forward to the rest of the season with three-year-old star Up The Credit, they’ve got to be feeling pretty darn good about their two-year-old terror, Warrawee Needy, who flogged his freshmen foes in OSS action at Mohawk Racetrack on Monday evening.

Fresh off a marvelous, maiden-breaking effort clocked in 1:53.1 on June 17, Warrawee Needy rallied to a new lifetime mark of 1:51.4 in his $40,000 OSS Gold Series elimination for the father and son of duo of trainer Carl Jamieson and driver Jody Jamieson. The son of E Dees Cam-Great Memories enjoyed a ground-saving trip behind Machal Angelo, who threw down panels of :27 and :56.1 before giving way to Orse Power on the way to the three-quarter pole. Orse Power led to that marker in 1:24.1 before feeling the wrath of Warrawee Needy. The hulking colt uncorked a :27.2 final frame and drew away to win by 7-1/4 lengths over Orse Power. Daniel Semalu was third best

Sent off as the 1-9 favourite, Warrawee Needy bumped his lifetime earnings to $28,500 for Carl Jamieson, Thomas Kyron, Dr. Michael Wilson and Floyd Marshall.

In the earlier elimination, Jake Sully and Aaron Byron pulled off a 10-1 upset. The son of Grinfromeartoear-Orillia Sadie sat a pocket trip behind Astor, who supplied splits of :26.1, :56.1 and 1:25. Astor was pressed in the third quarter by Warrawee Nonsuch, but he easily put away that challenge. Putting away Jake Sully wasn’t quite as easy, however. Jake Sully found clear track to work with and the scooted home in :28.2 to post the 1:53.3 decision. Astor was a length back in second, and Secretsoftheknight came on late to finish third.

Bred and owned by Mike Timpano of Orillia, ON, Jake Sully improved his record to 1-1-0 in two starts for trainer Symon Pryjma. He has banked $24,250 to date.

The top five finishers from each of the eliminatinons will line up behind the starting gate next Monday evening for the rich final. Here’s the field:
