Warrawee Koine Plays Spoiler In Trillium

A trip to Rideau Carleton Raceway proved to be a profitable one for Dr. Mike Wilson and Lobro Stables’ Warrawee Koine, who pulled off a 10-1 upset in the lone $72,442 division of the Trillium Series for three-year-old filly pacers.

The homebred daughter of Astreos-My Gal Hall front-stepped her way to the winner’s circle for driver Ted McDonald, who had the Gregg McNair trainee on the motor through panels of :27.4, :56.2 and 1:25.3 en route to the half-length score in 1:55. Run To Vegas, who applied pressure to the leader in the third quarter, held on gamely to finish second and Star Of Show rounded out the top three in the nine-filly affair.

Warrawee Koine, who was unraced as a rookie, started her sophomore season with four consecutive wins. She now owns a 6-1-1 record from 14 starts, and that translates into more than $100,000 in earnings.
